CalRecycle seeks a Proposal to create a comprehensive Zero Waste Plan that addresses the following primary objectives to chart a roadmap for California to move away from a single-use economy to a fully circular and zero waste economy; Achieve and exceed existing waste and emission reduction mandates and goals; Identify and address gaps and overlaps in current waste management systems to be more sustainable, effective, and cohesive; Improve understanding of the full lifecycle of materials management (including each stage of the material lifecycle from beginning to end) to reduce loss and discourage disposal within a closed loop economy; Combat environmental health and justice issues associated with the lifecycle of material production, consumption, and waste generation; Maximize environmental, social, and economic benefits of a circular economy; Stimulate growth of the State’s Circular Economy through activities such as the redesign of products, implementation of infrastructure that reduces waste and enables reuse, and development of markets for recycled materials.
