California Public Records Act Requests
General Authority
It is the policy of the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to make records requested by the public promptly available in accordance with the laws governing disclosure of records and information to the public. In general, all records in the possession of a state agency are public records subject to disclosure, unless a law provides that a particular kind of record or information is not a public record or is exempt or prohibited from disclosure.
The laws in California governing the release of records and information to the public by State agencies are the California Public Records Act (Government Code Section 7920.000 et seq.) and the Information Practices Act (Civil Code Section 1798 et seq.). CalRecycle regulations governing the release of records and information to the public by CalRecycle are found in Title 14, Division 2, Chapter 5, Subchapter 2, Article 4 and Division 7, Chapter 1, Article 4 of the California Code of Regulations.
