Responses to City of Paradise Question About Funding
Hello:
Our jurisdiction is struggling with these very same issues. I would love to hear how others are answering these questions.

At this time, it would appear that the options are limited to applying for a grant.

Marin County has a program. They could check with Robert Turner at (415) 499-6907.

The City of Redding got a grant through the Integrated Waste Management and they are planning to accept sharps at their transfer station. The City of Paradise should contact Bonnie Low, Public Works Supervisor, to discuss this topic from the City`s perspective. If Paradise is in Butte County...they should contact Steve at Environmental Health down there; we sold them one of our Safe Sharps Disposal Kiosks for their pilot project. We (Public Health) installed 16 kiosks around the county. They are serviced by a medical waste hauler - Sanitec (AKA Northstate Specialty Waste). Our Resource Management Department accepts sharps at their Household Hazardous Waste collection events. (Contact: Carla Serio

Hope this helps!
