This message provides access to the public notice that contains documents for this meeting, including the Carpet Stewardship Plan under review and workshop agenda. The public notice will also have directions for how to listen remotely.

Please email your comments to this address: carpet@calrecycle.ca.gov (include "Plan" on the subject line). Note that due to the potentially large number of people listening, comments must be provided in-person or submitted as written comments through email or to CalRecycle at this address: Kathy Frevert, CalRecycle, 1001 I Street, PO Box 4025, MS 13A, Sacramento, CA 95812. Please submit your comments by June 25.
Public Comment on Potential Recommended Revisions to NSF-140 Standard for Carpet (Follow-up to June 13 workshop on NSF-140)
Following the session on the Carpet Stewardship Plan on June 25, 2013, there will be a public comment session on the NSF-140 standard from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This public comment session is a follow-up to an earlier workshop on June 13.
Pursuant to the requirements of AB 2398, CalRecycle and the Department of General Services have been charged with writing a legislative report on the specification, NSF-140, used for carpet purchases. The report to the legislature will include any recommended changes to the standard that would advance carpet sustainability.
On June 13, CalRecycle and Department of General Services held a workshop to receive comments on potential recommendations for revision to the NSF-140 standard from our interested stakeholders. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, some of our stakeholders were unable to participate fully in the workshop. In the interest of those stakeholders who were unable to comment, CalRecycle is providing this additional opportunity to comment.
The Public Notice for the June 13 workshop includes a link to the document that contains potential recommendations for a California legislative report. This same document will be used for the June 25 meeting and be accessed from this page: http://www.calrecycle.ca.gov/Actions/PublicNoticeDetail.aspx?id=987&aiid=901.
Email your comments to this address: carpet@calrecycle.ca.gov (please include "NSF-140" in the subject line) preferably before or during the meeting on the June 25. Some comments may be presented verbally via a phone line, but this approach is less preferred, especially for comments that are more technical in nature. The public notice is at this link: http://www.calrecycle.ca.gov/Actions/PublicNoticeDetail.aspx?id=987&aiid=901 ,
Additionally, NSF has provided 30 day access (starting June 13) to the NSF-140 standard to enable stakeholders to follow the issues discussed in the handout document. For access to the standard, please refer to the NSF website: http://standards.nsf.org/apps/group_public/document.php?document_id=20895&wg_abbrev=sustainable_carpet_jc
