The California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA or Agency) invites all interested Tribal governments, Tribal communities, and other interested Tribal stakeholders to participate in a series of workshops discussing the Agency’s draft Tribal Consultation Protocol document. The workshops will be held in June 2018 and will provide an opportunity to discuss the draft Tribal Consultation Protocol. The purpose of the draft Tribal Consultation Protocol is to establish a step-by-step process that will assist the Agency and its Boards, Departments, and Office (BDOs) to engage with Tribes, define key roles and responsibilities for Agency staff, and set out core phases during the consultation process.
The Air Resources Board (ARB) and Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) will also be sharing and asking for feedback on their draft consultation policies during the workshops. Other CalEPA BDOS will share an update on their development of their respective draft Tribal consultation policies.
