SB 1335: New Sustainable Packaging Act Reporting System (SPARS)
Message

CalRecycle’s new Sustainable Packaging Act Reporting System (SPARS) for SB 1335 will go live on Thursday, May 16, 2024!

The SPARS allows the online submission of applications to add reusable, recyclable, and compostable food service packaging items to the List of Approved Food Service Packaging.

The SPARS has been redesigned to facilitate the application process and will provide new features to applicants. Applicants will be able to:

  • Create a company profile with a personal login.
  • View and save their progress when completing a food service packaging application.
  • Review application details after submission.

In anticipation of the new SPARS launch, we invite you to create a free CalRecycle WebPass account, which will be required to submit new applications after Thursday, May 16, 2024. No action is required for previously submitted applications or food service packaging items that are already included on CalRecycle’s List of Approved Food Service Packaging.

You may create a CalRecycle WebPass account here: https://secure.calrecycle.ca.gov/WebPass2/Create

WebPass accounts are created for individuals, not organizations, and are tied to your email address. If you change your email address or it becomes inactive, you must create a new WebPass account to continue accessing SPARS. Please ensure all individuals obtain their passwords and do not share passwords within your organization.

Additional information regarding SB 1335 can be found by visiting CalRecycle’s website.

If you require clarification or assistance regarding SB 1335 or the process to submit food service packaging applications, please contact CalRecycle at SB1335@CalRecycle.ca.gov. Thank you for your interest and participation in the SB 1335 Program.

Best regards,
The SB 1335 Team
