The California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) K-12 Technical Council announces its 2nd Annual Teacher Mini-Grant Program! Any K-12 teacher in the state of CA may apply for a $100 mini-grant to promote recycling and/or waste reduction in their classroom. The mini-grants can be used to purchase anything as long as it advances recycling/waste reduction education.

Whale Tail Grants Funding Now Available
Looking for funding for an ocean education or coastal stewardship project for underserved youth or the general public? The California Coastal Commission is accepting applications for WHALE TAIL® Grants between now and November 4, 2019 from nonprofits, schools, or government entities. There are special subcategories for projects addressing climate change as it relates to the ocean or coastline, and for smaller organizations working with underserved communities. Approximately $300,000 will be awarded.

NOAA Marine Debris Prevention Grants
The NOAA Marine Debris Program is proud to announce our FY 2020 “Marine Debris Prevention” federal funding opportunity. This opportunity provides funding for projects that actively engage and educate a target audience (such as students, teachers, industries, or the public) in hands-on programs designed to raise awareness, provide practical approaches, reduce barriers, and encourage and support changes in behaviors to ensure long-term prevention of marine debris. The Letter of Intent (LOI) submission period for prevention projects will extend until November 5, 2019. Applicants who submit successful LOIs will be invited to submit a full proposal following the LOI review period. The Organics Grant Program is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of cap-and-trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment - particularly in disadvantaged and/or low-income communities. The Cap-and-Trade program also creates a financial incentive for industries to invest in clean technologies and develop innovative ways to reduce pollution. California Climate Investments projects include affordable housing, renewable energy, public transportation, zero-emission vehicles, environmental restoration, more sustainable agriculture, recycling, and much more. 2020 Used Oil/HHW Call for Proposals
CalRecycle invites you to submit a proposal for the 2020 Used Oil/Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Training and Symposium. The focus of the Training and Symposium is HAZ-MADNESS, CHAMPIONS FOR CHANGE, sharing what you have discovered with others on resource conservation and the appropriate management of used oil, batteries, pharmaceuticals and sharps, pollution prevention, and other problematic waste streams in the HHW universe. More than 300 individuals from federal, state, and local agencies, non-profit organizations, and businesses are expected to come together at the symposium and hear what you have to say.
It will be held at the Sacramento DoubleTree Hotel, March 24-27, 2020.
Submit proposals by November 15, 2019.

California Bioresources Alliance 2019 Symposium
CBA 2019 will feature a special workshop designed to help people understand and improve the permitting process for organics projects in California.

NCRA RU: Call for Speakers 2020
On March 17, 2020, Northern California Recycling Association (NCRA) will host its annual one-day Recycling Update (RU) at the National Zero Waste Conference in Berkeley, CA. The fast-paced multi-faceted event draws around 400+ attendees from cities, haulers, consultants and public policymakers as well as advocates, job changers and students. Around 25 speakers address their area of expertise highlighting new and/or different approaches in 10-minute presentations followed by a few minutes of Q&A.
All interested speakers are invited to submit an application by November 11th.
