Did you know Californians spend $70 million every year to landfill 1.24 million tons of clothes and other fabrics? 95% of these fabrics could be reused or recycled. Trendy fashion means the average outfit stays in your closet less than three years. How do we minimize impacts of clothing production and increase the amount of textiles reused, repaired and recycled?
CalRecycle is bringing together forward-thinking and innovative industry leaders to discuss how to reduce the incredible volume of cloth waste and its associated environmental impacts. Please join us for a workshop “The Truth About Textiles” next week.
Our expert panelists will talk about:
- The environmental impacts of fast fashion
- Sustainable design and manufacturing
- How to reduce, reuse, and repair fabric items instead of sending them to a landfill
- How policy can help
When: Tuesday, December 3, at 10 a.m.
Where: CalEPA Building, 1001 I St., Sacramento.
Please register here. We encourage you to attend in person so you can participate in our World Café. If you are unable to join in person, please attend by webcast. (The workshop link will go live shortly before the workshop starts.)
