New materials and packaging continue to be introduced into the California marketplace, with significant implications for the state’s resource recovery infrastructure. CalRecycle staff will present findings from several research contracts focused on bioplastics and discuss management of plastic packaging at end of life to help meet California’s statewide goal of 75% source reduction, recycling, and composting by 2020.

NOTE: The final version of the draft document discussed at the 2013 workshop, Biobased and Degradable Plastics: Understanding New Packaging Materials and Their Management in California, was published on the web 8/7/2014 and may be found here.
