Preliminary review of the permit package indicates the following proposed design parameters: The proposed facility will be a Composting Material Handling Facility that will use Covered Aerated Static Pile (CASP) technology within the boundaries of Altamont Landfill; Waste will be received from the general public, agricultural operations, curbside collection, and commercial programs; Feedstock will be limited to green waste, clean dimensional lumber, agriculture material (e.g., grape pomace and animal manures), residential and commercial food waste, mixed solid waste organics diverted from municipal solid waste recycling, and potentially digestate from anaerobic organics processing facilities; Maximum throughput of 500 tons per day; Design Capacity of 346,700 cubic yards; Permitted traffic volume of 83 vehicles per day; Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the public, Monday through Sunday 24 hours for commercial haulers, Monday through Sunday 24 hours for ancillary operations; and Permitted area of 60.5 acres.
