Preliminary review of the permit package indicates the following: 3-new buildings within the boundaries of the Davis Street Transfer Station will be constructed: (1) Organics Material Recycling Facility (OMRF) which will receive between 1,000 to 1,300 tons per day (tpd) of waste from multi-family, single family residential and commercial trash; Self-automated material recovery facility which includes screening, air separation and optical sorting technology; Will remove recyclable and inorganic material to prepare feedstock for onsite composting;(2) Organics Materials Composting Facility (OMCF) which will consist of a pre-treatment processing system (the system is focused on recovering ferrous metals, glass and inerts and preparing the materials for active composting); In-vessel Composting Lanes (an enclosed structure consisting of 8 lanes); Compost Refining Processing System (the system will focus on recovering remaining ferrous and non-ferrous metals, a plastics fraction, a residual fraction, and further separate compost sizes); Anaerobic Digester (a renewable biogas will create fuel for a heat and power system, and digestate will be fed into In-Vessel composting lanes or to other permitted composting facilities); and (3) Employee Building which will contain office area for administrative staff, restrooms, locker space, break area, and training/conference rooms for employees.
