Consideration of approval to appoint a representative in the solid waste industry stakeholder category to serve on the Mattress Recycling Organization Advisory Committee.

CalRecycle solicited applications from the solid waste industry through August 27, 2018.  Applications were evaluated and staff’s recommended appointment to the Advisory Committee will be considered by the Director on September 18, 2018 at CalRecycle’s monthly public meeting.

As required by The Used Mattress Recycling and Recovery Act (Chapter 388, Statutes of 2013), the Director of CalRecycle appointed members of an advisory committee to be part of the MRO in March 2014.

Per Public Resources Code Section 42987(a)(3) the role of the advisory committee is to provide consultation to the MRO and to prepare a report that includes a summary of the consultative process between the advisory committee and the MRO during the development of the MRO’s plan, and relating to the ongoing implementation of the plan, as well as any other information deemed pertinent by the advisory committee to maximizing the recovery and recycling of used mattresses in the state.
