Chiquita Canyon Landfill - Los Angeles County

 Preliminary review of the permit package indicates the following proposed changes:

  • 1. Increasing the maximum daily tonnage from 6,000 TPD to 12,000 TPD;
    2. Increasing the maximum weekly tonnage from 30,000 TPW to 60,000 TPW;
    3. Clarifying the hours of operation for composting activities to be 24 hours per day, 7 days per week;
    4. Clarifying the hours of operation for customer access for removing finished mulch, biomass fuel, and compost to be 6:00am to 8:00 pm, 7 days per week;
    5. Increasing the total permitted area from 592 acres to 639 acres;
    6. Increasing the disposal area from 257 acres to 400 acres;
    7. Relocation of the site entrance from Henry Mayo Drive to Wolcott Way;
    8. Designation of an area for public drop off of waste and recyclables;
    9. Development of a household hazardous waste facility; and
    10. Development of an enclosed mixed organics composting operation.
