3. 8:45 am (10 min) Review and Potential Approval of Meeting Notes

The Commission will review and potentially approve meeting notes from June 24, 2020.

4. 8:55 am (20 min) Potential Review and Approval of Changes to Charter

The Commission may review and revise the Charter, including potential approval of changes.

5. 9:15 am (45 min) Formation of Committees

The Commission may discuss and create Committees and define roles and responsibilities.

6. 10:05 am (30 min.) Definition of recyclable and compostable – Evan Johnson, Senior Environmental Scientist

Presentation from CalRecycle’s Senate Bill 1335 (Allen, Chapter 610, Statutes of 2018) Rulemaking Team. Commissioners may discuss the definition of recyclable and compostable.

7. 10:35 am (30 min.) Public Education Campaign – Christina Files, Information Officer and Maria West, Communications Director

CalRecycle’s Office of Public Affairs will provide the Commission with an update of the planning and research phase and expected timeline the public education campaign. 8. 11:05 am (30 min) Review and Discussion of  Pending and Proposed Legislation.  Relating To Commission’s Mandate Under Public Resources Code Section 42005.5.

Commissioners may discuss current bills related to recycling and waste management. A description of the legislation to be considered will be provided before the meeting

9. 11: 40 am (20 min.) Discussion of Scheduling and Process for Reporting to the Legislature

The Commission will discuss the frequency and extent of policy recommendation reporting to the Legislature.

10. 12:00 (20 min.) Agenda Items for Future Meetings

Discussion on future agenda items, including extending an invitation to producers and brand owners for input and clarifying all the means to access the Commission proceedings and provide public comment including discussing that the public can reach all Commissioner’s through AB1583Commission@calrecycle.ca.gov (listserv, website, videos, emails, etc.).

Consistent with the Executive Order, this Commission meeting will be conducted by teleconference only. None of the locations from which Commissioners will participate will be open to the public.
