On September 30, 2020, the City of San Jose Local Enforcement Agency granted an emergency wavier for the permitted tonnage, to expand the hours of operation to include Sundays, and allow unsorted disaster related debris to remain unprocessed for a period not to exceed seven days until January 28, 2021, due to the River, Jones, Gamble, Hennessy, and Lightning Complex Fires. On January 22, 2021, the LEA granted an extension of the emergency waiver for an additional 120 days through May 29, 2021.
