Revised Solid Waste Facilities Permit

Shafter-Wasco Recycling & Sanitary Landfill - Kern County

Preliminary review of the permit package indicates the following proposed changes:  

 

  1. Increase the permitted facility boundary from 357.48 acres to 407.69

  2. Increase the operating hours for waste receipt from 7:00 am - 5:00 to 7:00 am - 7:00 pm 7 days per week; and increase ancillary hours from 7:00 am -  5:00 pm to 24 hours 7 days per week

  3. Increase the composting design capacity to 100,000 tons per year

  4. Update the estimated closure year to 2054

  5. Addition of transfer/processing operations.
