The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) will hold an informal public workshop on April 25, 2023, to consult with the public, the regulated community, and other interested persons to solicit feedback on some of the requirements outlined in SB 54 (Allen, Chapter 75, Statutes of 2022). The topic of this workshop will be “covered material”. This workshop is split into three parts:
- Part 1 will be an informational session, providing background information on the requirements discussed in an accompanying discussion document.
- Part 2 will discuss non-regulatory concepts to solicit stakeholder feedback.
- Part 3 will discuss several regulation concepts to solicit stakeholder feedback to help prepare for the draft regulatory text.
CalRecycle will provide a discussion document pertaining to these parts prior to the workshop.
Request for Public Feedback
At the public workshop, CalRecycle will be presenting a statutory overview of Covered Material, an overview on non-regulatory producer reporting systems, and an overview of regulatory concepts. CalRecycle will provide a discussion document prior to the workshop to give stakeholders time to review the content in advance. There will be opportunities for stakeholders to provide verbal feedback during the workshop. CalRecycle requests feedback to be focused on the specific topics being discussed. Other SB 54 requirements not specified in the discussion document will be open for discussion at future workshops.
How to Participate in the Workshop
CalRecycle will hold the hybrid public workshop starting at 10:00 AM on April 25, 2023, to solicit stakeholder feedback on this matter.
