Overview:

On February 1st, CalRecycle will host a questions and answers session on the draft regulatory text for the implementation of SB 54 (Allen, Chapter 75, Statutes of 2022). During this session, CalRecycle will present an overview of SB 54, an overview of the rulemaking process, an overview of the complete draft regulatory text, and will endeavor to answer clarifying questions about the draft regulatory text.

The purpose of this session is to provide an opportunity for the public to ask clarifying questions about the draft regulations, not to provide official public comments on the regulations. CalRecycle aims to provide the public with ample time to review and prepare comments for the forthcoming 45-day comment period, which will open in the coming months when CalRecycle initiates the formal rulemaking process.

How to Participate in the Session:

The questions and answers session will be a hybrid in-person and virtual meeting, accessible in person in the Byron Sher Auditorium, 2nd Floor, 1001 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. The Byron Sher Auditorium is wheelchair accessible.

The questions and answers session will also be accessible virtually via Zoom, enabling direct participation, and via Webcast, for observation only. Instructions for how to access the Zoom meeting (registration required) or Webcast (no registration required) are included below. A detailed agenda will be forthcoming through the listserv and attached to the public notice.

Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be available in-person at the event and remotely via Zoom or webcast. For in-person interpretation services, headsets will be available and can be provided by CalRecycle staff prior to or during the event. If you need interpretation services in a language other than Spanish, please notify the Department at packaging@CalRecycle.ca.gov by January 25, 2024 and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
