This item presents staff’s analysis of MED-Project’s
proposed changes to its stewardship plan for home-generated sharps waste,
submitted August 23, 2024, regarding local agency requests for the removal of
home-generated sharps waste from local household hazardous waste facilities,
and resubmitted on September 17, 2024, to clarify the physical and mailing
address for a new service provider and update a reference in the regulatory map
for the removal of home-generated sharps waste.
Public Resources Code section 42032(e) and Title 14 of the
California Code of Regulations section 18973.1(i) require a program operator to
submit any significant changes to a stewardship plan in writing to CalRecycle
for approval prior to implementation.
