On October 17, 2024, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Local Enforcement Agency (LEA), granted an emergency waiver of the permitted maximum tonnage until February 28, 2025, due to the emergency resulting from the Borel Fire. On January 28, 2025 the LEA granted a revised and extended emergency waiver to incorporate additional fires as part of the emergency and to waive the permitted hours of operation, until May 28, 2025. On May 27, 2025, the LEA granted a revised and extended emergency waiver to just receive disaster debris, until August 29, 2025. On August 1, 2025, the LEA granted a revised and extended emergency waiver to amend the permitted hours of operation for receipt of refuse and the permitted maximum tonnage, until December 31, 2025.
