Review of The Drug Takeback Solutions Foundation’s Proposed Changes to its Stewardship Plan for Home-Generated Sharps Waste: Local Agency Requests

This item presents staff’s analysis of The Drug Takeback Solutions Foundation’s (Foundation) proposed changes to its stewardship plan for home-generated sharps waste, submitted June 2, 2025, regarding local agency requests, which involve reimbursement for the costs of transportation and disposal, or removal of, home-generated sharps waste from a household hazardous waste facility. Foundation resubmitted its proposed changes on July 31, 2005, to clarify the time frame for responding to a local agency's request for removal or reimbursement. 

 

Public Resources Code section 42032(e) and Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations section 18973.1(i) require a program operator to submit any significant changes to a stewardship plan in writing to CalRecycle for approval prior to implementation.
