This item presents staff’s analysis of PaintCare’s California Paint Stewardship Plan Amendment.
Public Resources Code section 48703.5(a) requires a paint product manufacturer, individually or through a stewardship organization, to review its stewardship plan at least once every five years after approval by the department and determine whether amendments to the stewardship plan are necessary. PaintCare submitted a California Paint Stewardship Plan Amendment on July 1, 2026.
CalRecycle has 120 days from the date of receipt to review and approve, conditionally approve, or disapprove the plan amendment.
Note that under the California Public Records Act (Government Code section 7920.000 et seq.), your written and oral comments, attachments, and associated contact information (e.g., your address, phone, email) become part of the public record and can be released to the public upon request.
