Summary

Update: On June 13, CalRecycle and Department of General Services held a workshop to receive comments on potential recommendations for revision to the NSF-140 standard from our interested stakeholders. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, some of our stakeholders were unable to participate fully in the workshop. In the interest of those stakeholders who were unable to comment, CalRecycle will provide another opportunity for comments on June 25, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This follows a separate meeting on the revision to the California Carpet Stewardship Plan (Public Notice: https://www2.calrecycle.ca.gov/PublicNotices/details/983)

Comments may be sent via email to this address before or during the meeting on the June 25: carpet@calrecycle.ca.gov (please include "NSF-140" in the subject line). For comments more technical in nature, this is the preferred approach.

Additionally, NSF has provided a 30-day access (from June 13) to the NSF-140 standard to enable stakeholders to follow the issues discussed in the handout document. For access to the standard, please refer to the NSF website: http://standards.nsf.org/apps/group_public/document.php?document_id=20895&wg_abbrev=sustainable_carpet_jc

For the handout document that was discussed on June 13, which contains potential recommendations for a California legislative report, please refer to the document Issues and Potential Changes to NSF-140 to Advance Carpet Sustainability. This same document will be commented on during the June 25 meeting.
