This study was prepared in February 2007 under contract for the Division of Recycling (now part of the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, or CalRecycle). The report summaries multiple benefits derived from switching to single stream collection of recyclables, including multiplying the volume of recovered materials, boosting the diversion rate from the local landfill, increasing recycling participation by residents and businesses, and reducing collection costs.
