This report describes a California Integrated Waste Management Board study to characterize and benchmark the state’s compost- and mulch-producing industry. The purpose of the study, which utilized a survey of composters and processors, was to increase the use of municipal compost and mulch in California. The report includes information on the number of operating compost and mulch producers, the quantity and types of feedstocks, product quantities by type and region, and feedstock quality.
