    Inspection Report Comments

    Routine Quarterly Inspection

This site is a closed landfill previously operated as a burn dump in the city of Wildomar Ca.  Adjacent land use is residential and open undeveloped land.  The site is owned and operated by the County of Riverside.  The area that was designated for waste disposal area occupies a small portion of the site.  Most of the property is owned and utilized by the Riverside County Transportation Land Management Agency as an earthen material source and storage yard.  Ambient weather at the time of inspection was 66°F, overcast with minimal breeze.  Traffic crews were on site, cutting into a hill side slope for sand/gravel and rebuilding the sites access roads.

The property is currently being used as a source for road building materials.  Access to the property is through one of two chain link gates facing the road.  One is on the west side and one on the east of the property.  The western gate provides access to a road with a padlock compatible with our key is the one to the west.  Recent excavations at the site has resulted in a significant change to the appearance of the property, with soil having been removed from the side of the property facing Bundy Canyon road.  This has not impacted either the soil or buried wastes over or near the disposal area; however, it has visually changed the appearance of the surrounding property. The solid waste fill area may be identified using signs posted at the perimeter of the disposal foot print.  The solid waste fill area showed no sign of exposed wastes, erosion, sifting, rills or vermin activity.

Perimeter fencing was observed to be in a good state of repair with no sign of unauthorized access or illegal dumping.

Access roads were in reasonable condition and showed no signs of erosion or other degradation.  There was no sign of illegal dumping either in roads or along fence lines.
