This demonstration project examines the use of an in situ digester cell at an existing landfill to generate electricity, produce quality compost, and reduces emissions as compared to current aerobic composting technology, The project, funded by the California Integrated Waste Management Board (now CalRecycle), also demonstrates the technical and economic viability of this new technology as part of a solution to California’s organic materials recycling capacity.
