Report

This report presents results of a statewide waste characterization study conducted in 1999 by the California Integrated Waste Management Board. The primary objective of the study was to obtain information on the types and amounts of materials being disposed of in the state. Data was gathered from commercial, residential, and self-haul waste streams. Additional objectives of the study were to arrive at an estimate of the amount of rigid plastic packaging containers (RPPC) disposed of in California for the purpose of calculating the RPPC recycling rate, and to gather data from commercial businesses and institutions for inclusion in the CIWMB's waste characterization database.
