This manual illustrates deconstruction in place of demolition as a viable economic alternative that reduces the amount of construction and demolition debris in landfills. Published by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, this document discusses the advantages and challenges of deconstruction, as well as safety issues and procedures relating to the deconstruction process. The manual was prepared as part of a pilot project in which military residences were deconstructed at the former Mather Air Force Base, Sacramento, CA.
